*2nd-Looking Back Civil War Project of Tennessee State Library. Bring Civil War memorabilia to have it digitized and preserved for future generations. Schedule your appointment between 10 and 2:30.
*5th at 10 a.m.-Book Bunch discusses The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot.
*11th at 10 a.m.-Leona from Between the Lions will be here to help us kick off our 2010 Summer Reading program...Books and Beyond Under the Big Top! Meet Leona, have circus cake, and register for this summer reading circus extravaganza. Summer reading will be every Friday in July at 10 a.m. with cool programs each week, stories, crafts, and a finale circus with jumpers, popcorn, cotton candy, and more!
*16th from 3-5 p.m.-Happy Hour celebrates all things summer...front porch swings, cold lemonade and flip flops.
*18th-Teen Scene Teen Summer Reading event-After Hours @ The Library. Movies, food, and fun from 5 p.m. until midnight! Enjoy watching Twilight and New Moon based on the young adult books by Stephenie Meyer, before the premiere of Eclipse. Students in 6th through 12th grade are invited. Which team are YOU on?! Team Jacob or Team Edward.

*22nd-Benton County Quilt Trail meeting at 6 p.m. Please come if you are interested in seeing Benton County have their very own version of the popular painted quilt trails on barns and other out buildings similar to other cities.
*24th-Mike Freeland, author of Blood River to Berlin will be here to read, sign, and discuss his book about his experiences as a medic in World War II.
*25th-Book Sale! $1.00 a bag from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Fill up standard plastic bags and every bag is just a buck!

July

*2nd-Rachel Sumner will be the Summer Reading program at 10 a.m. Children through 5th grade are invited.
*3rd-Book Bunch will meet at 10 a.m. to discuss Alice, I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin.
*7th-Happy Hour will host an ice cream party from 3-5 p.m. in honor of National Ice Cream month!
*9th-Magician Justin Chandler will be here at 10 a.m. for our summer reading program!
*16th-Voices of the South will present Wilhelmina Millicent's World of Imagination for summer reading at 10 a.m.
*23rd-Angela Chasse will be here presenting a Kindermusik story, music, and interactive performance program at 10 a.m. for summer reading, followed by circus stories and crafts with Ms. Susan. Prizes will be drawn for at this program!!! Cool stuff is waiting for your name to be drawn. You must be present to win.
*30th-Circus Party Finale! Enjoy a circus jumper, fun games, great circus food like popcorn, cotton candy, and hot dogs in this huge party to finish summer reading. Final prizes for attendance and reading will be drawn at this final program.
*30th-Drawing for Teen and Adult Summer Reading prizes will be held today.

August

*4th-School Starts! Watch for details on our annual back to school party...date and time coming soon!
*7th-Book Bunch will discuss When Everything Changed by Gail Collins at 10 a.m.
*17th-Live Thrifty Happy Hour from 3-5 p.m. Pick up some great ideas for living well on less!

September

*4th-Book Bunch will discuss Saving Cicadas by Nicole Seitz at 10 a.m.
*21st-Turn Off TV Week Happy Hour from 3-5 p.m.! There's lots of great things to do besides watch television...come let us give you all our best tv free ideas.
*22nd-Fall outreach story programs start to local preschools.
*23rd-Fall Preschool Story Hour for birth to 5 year olds and After School Adventurers for kindergarten through 5th graders begins today. Preschool at 10 a.m., after school at 3 p.m. Get ready for a trip to far away places in this multi-cultural program, One World...Many Stories.
